LIGOtools Package: basegdsroot
This package consists of several shared-object libraries which are
automatically loaded when you start up the LIGOtools version of ROOT.
It forms the basis for the dmtroot and eventtool
packages.
Author: Daniel Sigg
LIGOtools contributor: Peter Shawhan
Version 2002.4.9
Release date: April 11, 2002
Notes
- This version of the basegdsroot package requires version
3.02.07 or 3.02.07a of the root
package.
- The eventtool and dmtroot packages require the
basegdsroot package to be installed, since they rely on its
libraries.
- This package is available as a binary distribution for
Solaris or for Intel Linux.
Contact Peter Shawhan if you would like to try to build the package on
some other operating system.
- On May 9, 2002, the binary distribution for Solaris was
changed from a version built using Solaris 8 (which did not work on
machines running Solaris 7, in particular fortress) to a
version built using Solaris 7 (which should run on machines running
either Solaris 7 or Solaris 8). Please contact Peter Shawhan if you
encounter any problems which seem to be related to the version of your
operating system.

Distribution files
Normally, you should use the ligotools_update utility to
download and install new packages or new versions of existing
packages, since it automatically figures out what packages need to be
updated. However, if you wish to do so manually, then click on the
name of the appropriate distribution file (below) with the
right mouse button and choose "Save Link As..." from
the popup menu. Note that you must save it on your disk with exactly
the same name as it has on this web site. After the file has been
downloaded, do:
ligotools_install <file>
where <file> is the file which was downloaded. This
procedure will be quicker if the environment variable
LIGOTOOLS is set to the main LIGOtools directory.
