Getting a tape of LIGO data

Reduced Data Set (RDS) data from engineering runs can be written from disk to tape at the observatory sites. LSC institutions are expected to supply their own blank AIT-2 tapes for this purpose. A resident staff member might be willing to do the copying and send the tape(s) to a faraway collaborator, if asked nicely. As of March 2001, there are ongoing discussions between the LIGO Lab and LSC institutions about how to accommodate requests for tapes of data from the LIGO data archive at Caltech, but no procedure has been established.
